Why A Life group

The Mission of Life Groups:

“Make Disciples for Life.”

We believe the great commission in Matthew 28 is for anyone who calls them self a follower of Jesus Christ. We are to “make” disciples, to “baptize them” while “teaching them to obey everything” Jesus commanded. We model our methods of discipleship by how the Master did it. By living alongside a small group of disciples, not only teaching, studying scripture, but by doing what it says. We learn by doing and doing it together in a small group. We believe life in a small group is the best place for sustained life change to happen.

“Make Disciples for Life” sums up two things we are called to do:

Making Disciples is teaching people to live life God’s way in the here and now.

Making Disciples is the beautifully messy, lifelong-pursuit we are called to until we are reunited with Jesus for eternity.

This is our calling as God’s Church and we will not waiver.

How we do Life Groups at RRC?

In a healthy church, we are all ministers. There will never be a way for the staff to minister to all the people that attend Red Rocks Church. In fact, it would be a clear sign of an unhealthy church if the limited amount of staff tried to meet all the needs. In a healthy church, each one of us are ministers, it is how God designed it. That is why we place such an emphasis on group life. In Life Groups, people’s needs are met, friendships forged and lives are restored by Christ.

“As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:4-5)!!!

With any great intention there needs to be an actual plan and that includes some organization. At Red Rocks Church we have created a model based on scripture for life groups, that will best help healthy communities develop. We do not believe this is the only way a church should do things, but this is how God has wired Red Rocks Church.!

What does a Life Group look like?

Size

One or two approved RRC LG Leaders leading a group of approximately 12-15 people.

Location

LG’s meet in homes or a location where people can focus, talk and pray together.

Timeline

LG’s meet in semesters:

Fall Semester – September – December (4 months)

Winter/Spring Semester – February – June (5 months)

Summer Semester (optional if LG decides to meet)

Rhythm

LG’s are expected to meet once a week. (Bi-weekly in some circumstances)

We suggest that LG’s meet weekly.

One weekly meeting during each month should just be a social event, dinner or game

During the semester, as a group pick a serving event and volunteer together.

Purpose

“Make Disciples for Life.” Connecting in life groups involves learning God’s word, sharing our stories and struggles, praying together, applying what we are learning and meeting each other’s needs when life happens throughout the week.

OUR VISION:

To be a community transformed by Christ, reaching seekers and building believers into whole-hearted followers of Jesus.

So how do we do that?  As followers of Jesus, how do we become more like Him and actually see our lives transformed?  That is the mission of Red Rocks Church.

OUR MISSION:

Connect

Connect with God, connect with others, connect others with God.
