We called Heritage Square home and embraced its many oddities (one example: a miniature train you could ride that ran around the perimeter of the park), but as more and more people flooded in and started following Jesus, it became clear we needed another location.

After a long search, Red Rocks Church’s second campus launched in 2012 at what was previously a run-down dinner theater. The options were plentiful: you could sit in the 100-degree, no-air-conditioning auditorium in Golden, or in the former dinner-theater auditorium in Littleton, where a room full of old theater costumes sat next to the stage.

Regardless of the unorthodox locations and their many quirks, the church kept growing. Before we knew it, our locations were bursting at the seams, and hundreds of people were giving their lives to Christ each year.

In 2014, a Vietnamese grocery store went up for sale in Lakewood, Colorado, that contained aisles of food, rows of fish on ice, and even live frogs. Which, honestly, fit right into our story. While there are no longer live frogs, we left the sign that says “謝謝 光臨” - Thank You For Coming -  which everyone sees on their way out each Sunday.

That same year, Abundant Life Church in Arvada approached us with a building and a proposal: they would sell us their church if we would help reach the people of Arvada with the gospel. By September 2015, the Arvada Campus launched with overflowing crowds.

As all of this was happening, an opportunity opened up for us to bring Red Rocks Church into a Women’s Correctional Facility in Denver. We tried it out and never stopped. Doors kept opening, and all these years later we get to host weekly services in four different correctional facilities around the country.

Then in 2018, we decided it was time to branch out to a different state, so we sent a team down to Austin, Texas. Austin is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country for a reason. It is an incredible place full of inspiring people, delicious food, and fantastic live music. But it’s also a city where many people go to try to run from God. Our team set out to start a Red Rocks campus in the middle of Austin to welcome those people home.

After 90 different landlords turned us down, we finally got a yes from a shared workspace in town. And, continuing our pattern of unorthodox spaces, began setting up church every Sunday to welcome people who are far from God. While services were happening downstairs, business meetings and Zoom calls were happening upstairs. Then, in 2020, we moved into a more permanent location, an old movie theater that has become the perfect place for Red Rocks Church.

Around that same time, another opportunity came up back in Colorado. Right when it seemed like our love of quirky spaces might be at an end, a large building that had previously been a gym (complete with locker rooms, a giant climbing wall, and a bit of a smell) went up for sale in the Park Meadows area. That campus opened in November 2019, and hundreds of people immediately called the location home.

So if you’re keeping track, we now have campuses in:

• A former dinner theater in Littleton
• A former Vietnamese store in Lakewood
• A church with a long legacy of making heaven more crowded in Arvada
• A former gym in Park Meadows
• A former movie theater in Austin
• Along with 3 correctional facilities in the Denver area and 1 north of Austin

The last 20+ years have been an incredible journey full of celebrations, miraculous moments, and amazing spiritual growth, and we believe God is just getting started. We are so excited to watch God continue to use a bunch of imperfect people like us to Make Heaven More Crowded!
