In this part of the Rhythms section you will find resources and practices to help you discover the rhythms of life, death, and resurrection in your own life. All of our lives are made up of this rhythm of life, death, and resurrection. We see it in creation with the changing of the season, and we see it in our own lives as we say goodbye to things we once loved and cherish, only to notice something new rising in their place. Whatever season you are in right now, know that God is with you.life on purpose. Below are 6 topics to help that touch on different areas and experiences in our lives.
Practices
Daily
- We spend almost 50% of our time thinking about the past or future. What are some ways you can become more present in your reality? For example, you might put your phone down during dinner, be intentional to ask good questions to others, or take 5 minutes to pause and breathe.
- Each night, take time to reflect on your day. Ask these questions. What are three things I am thankful for? Where did I notice God today? What was I feeling today? Ask God to give you strength and love for tomorrow.
Weekly
- Read and pray through Matthew 11:28-30 in the Message Version every day this week. Write down 4 “unforced rhythms of Grace” you want to cultivate in your own life. Over the next month, implement these rhythms.
Monthly
- Draw a timeline of your life over the last year. As you go through the year, write down different descriptive words for the seasons of your life. For example you may put, this was a season of joy, sadness, fear, doubt, grace, abundance, clarity, pain, busyness, brokenness, or hardship. In each of these seasons reflect on how God was present and what he was teaching you.
