Internship
at Red Rocks Church | 2026-2027
Primary Areas of Development
Spiritual
Interns will leave this program with a deep, practical understanding of what it truly means to follow Christ. At RRC, we believe that everything we do falls short if Christ isn’t at the center. You’ll learn to pursue God through prayer, Scripture, serving, and everyday faithfulness, growing in ways that shape your heart, test your character, and reveal your calling. Above all, we want you to walk away intimately familiar with the voice of God and the confidence to abide in where He may be leading you.
Personal
Our hope and prayer is that this internship becomes a season that helps you step fully into the person God created you to be. You’ll be stretched in your relationships, guided to steward your time and finances wisely, and equipped to communicate and lead with clarity and purpose. Along the way, you’ll be invited to uncover the areas in your life where God is challenging you to grow, and you’ll gain the tools, habits, and confidence to pursue that growth with intention. This experience is more than a program—it’s a journey of spiritual, personal, and practical transformation, preparing you to live boldly, faithfully, and fully as the person God has designed you to become.
Leadership
At RRC, we don’t just want to help you grow as a person—we want to help you grow as a leader. Leadership is about more than skills or a title—it’s about character. During your internship, you’ll step into meaningful responsibilities in real ministry settings that teach you how to lead with humility, navigate conflict, build and guide teams, plan programs and events, and communicate vision and purpose with clarity. Every step is intentional, shaping you into a confident, servant-hearted leader—one who leads not just with ability, but with integrity, character, and lasting impact.
Ministry
Throughout this internship, you’ll gain hands-on ministry experience and a deeper understanding of how a local church operates. While you’ll focus on the ministry area where you feel called, you’ll also get to serve across a variety of church functions—kids, youth, young adults, production, special events, weekend services, team meetings, and more. You’ll learn what it takes to shepherd people, lead volunteers, and serve with both excellence and heart. This immersive experience is designed to cultivate a love for all of God’s people while giving you a practical understanding of what it takes to keep the church running and thriving.

To be accepted into the internship, applicants must commit to completing the entire 9-month program
Interns cannot hold part-time jobs or attend school during the program. With 40+ hours of ministry each week, we want you free to give your whole heart to what God is doing in you, so that you can truly enjoy the experience, not just survive it.
Since the internship is unpaid, interns are encouraged to raise $5,000–$10,000 (depending on individual needs) to cover living expenses. Every dollar you raise goes directly to you, allowing you to live, serve, and fully invest in this season. Nothing you fundraise goes to the church.
This program is for young adults who feel God calling them to ministry and want to explore it hands-on. While exceptions may be considered for those with a strong sense of calling, it’s not intended as a gap year for recent graduates or for those already in professional ministry.
Serve in the ministry area God is calling you to while also helping across the church—from youth and weekend services to outreach and events. Fully engage in team meetings, prayer gatherings, and staff events while gaining hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and ministry skills in an immersive season of growth and service.
You’ll leave with hands-on ministry experience, personal and spiritual growth, and insight into God’s calling for your life. You’ll develop skills and habits that will serve you for life, wherever God leads you. While some interns may continue into a residency, participation in the internship does not guarantee employment.
MINISTRY PATHS
WITHIN THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Care Ministry
An intern in the Care Ministry will actively assist the needs of Red Rocks Classes, Support Groups, Recover, and other general Care-related opperations. One can expect to participate in leader trainings, class launches, the inner-workings of a biblically based 12-step recovery program, and office administration in accordance with such ministries. Typical schedule expectations include participation in all Care events, dinners, and celebrations along with Youth, Young Adults, and Sunday service responsibilities. This internship will advance skills in pastoral care/resourcing, proactive and reactive interventions, volunteer coordination and discipleship, and much more. A Care Ministry intern may also shadow the processes of pastoral counseling, senior care, funerals, weddings, and hospital visitations. Below are short descriptions of Care’s three main ministries.
- Red Rocks Classes offer a wide variety of biblical curriculum that educate and assist people in navigating various stages of life.
- Recover is a Christ-centered 12-step program for anyone recovering from an array of life issues.
- Support Groups are topic-specific groups working through biblically based curriculum that address a variety of different needs and demographics within our congregation.
Campus Operations
Campus Operations Interns are self-starters, problem-solvers, attentive to details, and gifted with people. This internship will involve everything from nitty gritty details behind the scenes, to large-scale events for all of Red Rocks Church. Aspects of the Campus Operations internship will include: internal and external campus communication, pastoral moments with the congregation mid-week and during weekend services, interacting with the congregation via phone/email/dm, building relationships among volunteers, interacting with congregation members regarding financial assistance, and event management for all-RRC events such as Christmas, Easter, Baptisms and campus events.
Creative Design
The Creative Internships are collaborative positions that work in an open-office environment with all Creative team members to produce various assets for the church. The Creative Team supports all campuses and ministries from a central level. Creative intern roles include ministry support, weekend experience, large holiday services, special events (i.e. worship nights, baptisms, women’s conference, etc) and also entail running errands, building furniture, picking up apparel, etc. Above all, creative interns require a servant’s heart and the ability to take direction. The emphasis of the Design internship is on design creation in the forms of print, digital, web, environmental, and stage. An intern must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Design interns will assist on photo shoots, video production, and procuring equipment and props may be needed. While this internship gives experience in these areas, we cannot guarantee that intern-created assets will be used on a Sunday.

Creative experience (with photography and video specific skills) is always a plus, but above all, excelling as a creative intern is about the willingness to serve others with a teachable attitude. Project requests, deadlines and filming schedules fluctuate often which means interns applying for this position will need to maintain a flexibility that includes working outside of regular hours. This internship provides many opportunities to learn and grow in all aspects of the creative field!
Information Technology
The Rock Database and IT internship offers the chance to work with all ministries at all campuses. Using our Rock RMS database, we support each ministry’s needs ranging from event registration to volunteer management and any other processes they may need. In addition to maintaining our entire church database, data clean up, etc., this internship path also includes responsibilities working in IT, like maintaining and troubleshooting computers, our welcome center technology and checkin stations. As an intern, you will consistently be faced with learning and problem solving opportunities. You will have the unique opportunity to help behind the scenes with how things operate at RRC. Having IT or database experience is not a requirement but you will need to be technically minded and willing to prioritize the needs of various ministries.
Groups
The Red Rocks Groups Internship is focused on developing leaders for the sole purpose of making disciples of Jesus. Each weekend, thousands of people stream through the doors of every campus, sit in rows and are met by God’s truth and His great love. But what they do next matters most. We want to engage every person to live out the life to which Jesus calls His disciples. At Red Rocks Church, our leadership desires to make those weekend service rows into circles where people will grow in their relationship with God and with others. Each week, we have over 4,000 people meeting in homes as part of our Groups Ministry. Due to the number of people as well as those deeply desiring community, there is a need for constant new leadership development. As an intern you will serve in a high-level capacity alongside our Campus Groups Ministry Leads and Groups Team Lead. You will play an active role in developing and training new leaders, planning and organizing Groups events, as well as helping grow the Groups ministry here at Red Rocks Church.
Kids
Red Rocks Kids is multi-faceted ministry. From preparing small group activities to setting up rooms to building into volunteers to central and campus meetings to rehearsals and programming, everything is about what we call “the Superbowl.” That’s every weekend when over 1,500 kids arrive at all our campuses, a place where hundreds of volunteers serve and help kids to know and love Jesus. Thus the internship is equally multi-faceted. Interns who choose to be a part of Red Rocks Kids will learn every aspect of this ministry and more. Our desire is not only to envelope our interns into the ministry but to do all we can to grow them in their respective gifts and in leadership. So come be a part of one of the most life changing ministries in the church.
Live Production
The Red Rocks Production Internship is focused on supporting technical arts needs churchwide. Interns will work under campus and central production staff in learning many aspects of production in audio, video, and lighting. Interns will assist in weekly services, big projects, upgrades, installs of equipment and learn to troubleshoot gear. Interns may also be given a chance to oversee the technical execution of weekend services. This internship supports the technical and creative side of execution for all ministries. This includes but is not limited to the Weekend Experience, Youth, Young Adults, MOPS, retreats, worship nights, baptisms, and special events.

Red Rocks Outreach exists to make Jesus known by creating compelling opportunities to love others through service. Each year Red Rocks Church partners with church plants and organizations internationally and locally to help meet the needs of their communities. As an Outreach intern, you will work alongside church staff to identify community needs and mobilize the church body to partner with existing organizations to resource and serve those needs in a local city context. Outreach interns will seek out, develop, and maintain relationships with designated non-profits, and help organize and lead service projects/opportunities. You will experience everything from behind the scenes logistics and project organization to praying, serving, and loving on those in all seasons of life. Interns are expected to be self motivated, organized, and people-oriented leaders who have a passion for outreach.
Events
As an Event Intern you will have the opportunity to contribute to the planning and organization of events that bring our congregation closer together at campuses, in ministries, and for the church at large. This internship is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, hard-working, self-starters, calm under pressure, and wish to gain hands-on event experience within a ministry setting.
Event Interns will report to the Central Events Coordinator who supports multiple campuses and ministries from a Central level. Intern responsibilities include research, task management, project management, planning, logistics and scheduling, communication, venue & vendor management, event promotion, and documentation.
Responsibilities also include running errands, building/lifting decorations, set-up, tear-down, picking up orders, etc. Above all, Events Interns require a servant’s heart, flexibility, and the willingness to handle stressful situations with grace.
Next Steps
Next Steps interns will join the Next Steps Pastors at each location to help guide individuals in their journey at RRC. The Next Steps Pastor oversees the Welcome Party, as they help people discover their purpose and season of life, bridging connections between different ministries through the Welcome Party. Additionally, the Next Steps Team oversees Serve Teams (weekend volunteer teams), ensuring a welcoming environment for all guests during weekend experiences. Learn from Next Steps Pastors as they lead, train, equip, and spiritually guide campuses.
Worship
The Red Rocks Worship internship is devoted to the training, equipping and development of worship leaders. Interns will gain ministry experience at a multi-site church on a campus level. They will learn how to facilitate worship environments in a variety of avenues, ranging from Youth, Young Adults, and Weekend services. Red Rocks Worship interns will be expected to utilize technology to create connections for the congregation. They will learn in an atmosphere that values production, personal songwriting, and recording. Throughout the internship there will be many opportunities to serve the worship department for all events such as prayer nights, ministry events, writing retreats, worship nights, etc. Those who are chosen for the internship will grow in skill, technicality, spiritually, songwriting, efficiently leading volunteer musicians, and humbly serving The Church.
Sports
As a Red Rocks Sports Intern, you will be equipped to work within an area of the church that not only encourages spiritual pursuit, but does so through the platform of athletics. A couple of our core values include the administration of dynamic sports leagues, as well as serving the community. As an intern you will be given the opportunity to manage these events on your own, ministering to many of our unchurched participants. The Sports department runs leagues at night and on weekends. Therefore, a Sports intern must have a flexible schedule to run events outside of regular work hours.
Young Adults
The Red Rocks Young Adult Internship is focused on furthering the mission of Red Rocks Young Adults (bringing home prodigal young adults) and building up interns who use their lives to further God’s kingdom. This internship is a rotation into every department of RRYA: administration, production and creativity, volunteer management, college outreach and branding, and Life Groups. Interns will help further the mission of each of these departments as well as execute the larger events such as Fall Retreat and the Red Conference. Interns are expected to facilitate and execute college outreach as well as add value to every facet of our ministry through brainstorming, labor and execution.
Youth
The Red Rocks Youth internship focuses on training, challenging, and equipping interns to minister to 6th-12th grade students. It is geared toward those who are passionate about helping students meet Jesus. The internship provides opportunity to work with a specific campus team or with the central team which supports all campuses. Youth interns spend time developing relationships with students and volunteers, connecting with local schools, setting up for Wednesday nights, assisting in the planning and execution of all large youth events (outreach events, retreats and camps), as well as supporting the staff in any way possible.

Should I expect to get a job at Red Rocks Church at the end of the program?
No. The goal of this internship is to develop the call God has put on your life to pursue church ministry. Our goal is to then help deploy you towards the path God may be leading you. Interns should not plan to work at Red Rocks Church once the 9-month internship is over.
What is the suggested fundraising goal of $5,000-$10,000 for?
Interns are responsible for raising the funds needed to live off of for the 9-month internship. This money does not go to the church. Interns must consider their expenses and raise the amount of money needed. When putting together a budget consider car payments, health and auto insurance, meals, gas, housing, phone, etc.
Are housing and transportation provided?
Interns must provide their own transportation. There is no intern housing, however, if housing is needed, we will assist in the process of finding host families from within the church.
Will I receive payment or benefits?
No. While internships are unpaid and interns aren’t offered benefits, interns gain valuable experience in church ministry.
Can I have another job or attend school while participating in the internship?
No. Interns are NOT allowed to have a job or attend school because of the interference with the ministry hours at Red Rocks Church.
Is this a gap year program?
No. The purpose of the RRC Internship Program is focused on developing those who feel called to church ministry. This program is not to be used as a gap year. It isn’t for those who are hoping an internship will be a means to help you figure out your life. This is for people who feel called to church ministry and know it’s their next step.
